Health-Focused

Orthodontics

Many orthodontic approaches view a dental crowding or misalignment as the end all problem. At SoCal Orofacial Pediatrics, we see the teeth's position as a symptom of the patient's growth and development.

Health focused orthodontics recognize that dental alignment alone is only one of the goals of a good orthodontic treatment plan. The palate and upper arch are the floor of the nose and the lower jaw position directly affects the size and shape of a child's airway.  An orthodontic plan that puts the child's long term health at the forefront must take into consideration the structures surrounding the dental arches and the temporal mandibular joint health.

Far too often orthodontics attempt to treat problems after they have occurred. The result is treatments full of compromises to achieve only the most basic goal of aligning the teeth.

To optimize our patient's outcomes, we try to work as soon as problems are recognized. This allows for the best natural growth after intervention. Additionally, we utilize highly trained therapists to help address the orofacial muscles during changes. Muscular adaptation to any orthodontic change is essential to long term stability and success.
